About Nature On Security

Nature On Security was created by Michael Theroux. He has been involved in computer security since the late 1980s. During his four-year tour in the United States Marine Corps, Michael discovered the power of the personal computer, and went on to develop the first one-time-pad encryption application for DOS (4.01), and later on created a standard set of new authentication protocols for several BBS applications.

In the early-to-mid 1990s, Michael honed his skills on the newly emerging field of Malware Forensics. After several years as the Managing Editor for Borderland Sciences Research Foundation, he became Director of Technology of the company from 1995 to 2000. In 1998, he published several articles and a book debunking Y2k gloom and doom (The Millennium Bug and The New Industry of HysteriaY2k Challenge: Embedded Systems). These specifically targeted erroneous information being disseminated on embedded system failures.

Since the year 2000, Michael concentrated his talent working with several of the top Fortune 500 companies (Primevest, ING, IBM, Plexus Corp.) to address their security needs. Michael Theroux is currently an independent consultant focusing on computer security. Michael’s interests include, but are not limited to, cryptography, malware forensics, microkernels, physics, music, cartography, navigation, horology, climatology, and polar exploration.

Nature On Security is the product of the above experience.

  1. Just looked over your web site. As a home computer user I am really aware and concerned about computer security. Before I go on, I remember you from my ground radio project you published in the Borderlands Research Science Journal back in the late 1990’s. Last spoke with you over the phone in 2000 when you had left Borderlands. By the way, do you still live in Minnnesota?

I use an iMac 2002 model and for extra security, I use two alternate search engines that I found out about from a web site that competes with Borderlands called educate-yourself.org and listed as follows:

    Scroogle Scraper and Startpage.com
